Yes it’s Illustration Friday- uh, Saturday, again!
Agnes has been a little lazy about cleaning her aquarium. Now she has to work extra hard at removing all the delicate layers of scum and making the glass clear again. If you have an aquarium, you know what this is like. In fact, I did this Illo Friday piece INSTEAD of cleaning my actual aquarium! Don’t worry, the fish are fine…I try not to let the algae get to this level of maturity.
Can you tell what I used as algae in the artwork? Sea if you can guess!
a sponge? Great use of clear!
Hey, that’s what my turtle tank looks like 😛 Not sure what your algae really is but you have great use of textures and patterns!
Nice expressive style. Really like the color use throughout the pic.
Great idea!

:smile:I liike. I know exactly what that job is like!
I love the smoothness of your color. Great idea too. (our tank needs a cleaning…)
I just love this illustration. She is adorable. I used to have a 25 gallon aquarium. . .weekly cleaning can be a drag!
Great Job!
🙄 I know the feeling! And the smell. It all comes back to me now.
Your illustration is just excelllent. Did you pour sea salt on your painting to create the algae effect?
Lovely work! great illo! 😛
Thanks for checking this out! The algae is scanned kitchen sponge (Bingo, Jeanette!). No painting here, Ginger- it’s all digital, except I do the line by hand and scan it in.
Now I remember why I got rid of the fish tank!! Effective, fun illo!
Nice work. I can totally relate to this illustration, as I have a 10 gallon tank housing 1 goldfish and also a 30 gallon housing 2 more goldfish. Goldfish are notoriously messy….and it’s always really gross when I clean the tanks. Especially when I put it off, as I’ve been doing for the past 2 weeks. Ugh!
looks like a sponge – which is funny cause it needs one!
wonderful work!!!
Thanks for reminding me why I will NEVER get an aquarium again. Mine got so dirty, we could barely see the goldfish.
hehehe sweet story! and cute style!
Love this piece. Wonderful technique.
Oh I remember this task all too well. Great illo.
This is funny! Cute, cute as always Miss Dubois!
This is so sweet! You’re an expert at depicting facial expressions! I especially like the header image on your blog! Great work!
You’re amazing! What a wonderful illo. I love all the textures!
